Iridescent Iris!

The blue and gold of this February flower shines in the winter sun! The Iris is named after the Greek goddess of the sea and sky and is the personification of the rainbow. Such lustrous colours are rare in winter. This variety is called Iris unguiculares, and is the very earliest iris to bloom. It enjoys a sunny, dryish spot, close to a path where it can brighten my day! 🙂
